StartingBlock needs a consummate relationship-builder, connector, and collaborator to be an “ambassador in chief” for StartingBlock and the entire Madison startup ecosystem on the local, regional, and national levels. The Executive Director will manage StartingBlock’s commercial office facilities and ensure the continued evolution (and post-Covid reinvention!) of StartingBlock’s programs, offerings, community, and brand positioning.
Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director has overall management and fiscal responsibility for the team, programs and operations of StartingBlock Madison. The organization’s budget of roughly $1 million anticipates a team of 3-4 employees, which the incoming Executive Director will have a significant opportunity to build.

The StartingBlock Madison Board is looking for an Executive Director with some combination of:
Passion and background in entrepreneurship.
Fundraising experience from private investment, philanthropic, and public sector sources.
Commercial real estate management experience.
Business management experience.
Financial and administrative management experience, notably in budget management, as well as other areas including audit compliance, and human resources administration.
Familiarity with nonprofit governance for successful engagement with a nonprofit Board of Directors.
